About the University
The Hochschule für Technik, Wirtschaft und Medien Offenburg, officially known as the Hochschule Offenburg, is a public university founded in 1967. With more than 4,000 students, it is a small institution located in the city of Offenburg, Baden-Württemberg, Germany. The university also has a branch campus in the nearby town of Gengenbach.
Located in the picturesque Upper Rhine region, the University of Applied Sciences Offenburg offers students a blend of urban and rural surroundings. The main campus in Offenburg is located on the outskirts of the city, with easy access to nearby cities such as Strasbourg, Baden-Baden and Freiburg. The Gengenbach campus, housed in a former monastery, adds a touch of historic charm to the university's surroundings.
The university offers a wide range of academic programmes with a focus on engineering, business and economics, media and information sciences, and energy conversion and management. It is particularly renowned for its specialist programmes in communication and media technology, which have been ranked among the top international master's programmes in Germany by the DAAD. The university's MBA programme has also been recognised in the QS 200 Business Schools Report.
The University of Applied Sciences Offenburg is officially recognised and accredited by the Baden-Württemberg Ministry of Science, Research and the Arts. It has a strong commitment to internationalisation and offers English-taught Master's programmes, international double degrees, bilateral PhD programmes and a variety of exchange opportunities through global networks.
One of the university's unique features is its Graduate School, established in 2000, which co-ordinates four international programmes, including the highly-ranked Communication and Media Engineering programme. The university has also been recognised for its efforts in educational reform, receiving the "Reform University'' award from the Donors' Association for the Promotion of Sciences and Humanities in Germany in 2000.
The University of Applied Sciences Offenburg prides itself on its modern facilities, including a dedicated building for the Faculty of Media and Information Sciences, inaugurated in 2009. The university's commitment to sustainability and global challenges is reflected in its research projects and international collaborations.
