About the University
The University of Cologne, officially known as the University of Cologne, is one of the oldest and largest universities in Germany. Founded in 1388, it has a rich history spanning six centuries. As a public university, it offers a wide range of academic programmes to its more than 50,000 students. For example, the renowned composer Karlheinz Stockhausen studied at the University of Cologne.
